My (late) grandad was in the war and he told me that once one of his pals got sent a fruitcake through the post, the only thing was when he opened the tin it was full of crumbs!! His pal's mum had just baked the fruitcake, popped it in the tin withour padding the tin out and popped it in the post! The crumbs did taste nice though, so my Grandad told me. Another true story my Grandad told me was that when he was young he had a penfriend, this penfriend didn't last very long as all he wanted was gifts that my Grandad was meant to buy and send to him! I remember one of the items being a penknife. My Grandad never sent him anything but I bet if he did he wouldn't have got anything sent back, or even a thank you reply!! Please share your true stories with me and your friends on mylot. Thanks Anne18

I had a great family friend we all called Uncle Chester years ago. He was a designer etc for Ford Motor CO. and was part of the team that created and built the Mustang way back when. I loved hearing his stories about the deisnging of cars etc. Plus the perks of gifts like an original aluminum Mustang Horse that goes on the grill from the very first production line were great as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

This was a true story that my Grandad used to let us many times and we got so used to it that when he started it we were able to cut him off in a nice way and carry on the story for him. Hope this is a good one for us to discuss and comment on and you think it is ok to pull this one back up. I'm sure we can have great fun with it. Back in a couple of hours, children coming in and nned to sort them out, listen to them and cook the tea!!!! Bubble and squeak and BAR B Q sausages for tea tonight, I'm having fish! Catch you later my friends
