Do mobile phones cause cancer?

My mom used to tell me not to stand in-front of a microwave oven , I didn't really understand why until a few years ago when I learnt from an article that electromagnetic waves are harmful to your health more so when they are emitted as high frequency radiant energy. I am not really sure if it's safe to over use a mobile phone because it may have the same effect as standing in-front of a microwave oven. This debate has been going on for a while ... but I'd like to know what you think .. do mobile phones cause cancer or rather invite scenarios where a person is susceptible to getting cancer?
