Ok, so, because of my dads health (he has a congestive heart thingy going on), I've moved back home. Good ol' Northern Michigan, where the men are men, and the sheep are nervous. Everyone talks about how bad the economy is here, but I got here before midnight on thursday, Nov. 12, and got hired for a new job on tuesday, Nov. 17. Is it me, or is something going on here?

I think it also depends on you as a person. If you're the type who is willing to work for anything - even just doing the dishes or cleaning or admin or whatever, then you should be ok. There are those who think they are better and wouldn't do that for money. They'd rather funk in their unemployment. My bf has been laid off three times in this economy - and each time, he would find a job the next week! But this time though, he's gonna apply for unemployment since he's still going to school. Good luck with the new job. And I see you're new to mylot - so welcome!

You probably went out and looked for a job right, went and filled out applications, sent in resumes I presume. Many people just like to complain because they don't go out and look, or they want the high paying job and won't settle for minimum wage. I also know in my area, I have looked for jobs but I am still in school and many won't work around my schedule, then it is also who you know or what your last name is. So some areas are harder than others to find employment. But mostly is because they don't want to work. My sister in law and her husband are on unemployment and they don't even look for employment, they rather be broke and get free money.
