I am currently 5 months pregnant and found out from my doctor that when sleeping or laying on the couch there are is a very important rule that you need to know if you are pregnant. After 19 weeks, you are never supposed to lay on your back. You also are not supposed to lay on your right side. The only side that you should lay on is your left side. The reason for this, is because laying on your right side or on your back compresses an important bloodstream that connects between the top of your body and the bottom. It makes it much more difficult for your heart to pump when you do not lay on your left side, but when you do lay on the left the compression does not occur.
When I heard this, as a person who is known for moving around tons during sleep, I immediately asked my doctor... "Well what if I wake up and I have been laying on my right side?" She said that it is fine, but it is best to roll over and continue your nights sleep on the left side.
Did you know this??

when I found out that I was pregnant, i did a lot of ready, and I also came across that info, and somehow followed that, but my doctor said, you should not overly force yourself in that idea, coz you will come to a point where you cant sleep except on sleeping at your left side. As the doctor explained it to me, the size of the baby will be the determinant if you should sleep on you left side or just sleep where you'll be comfortable. I'm about 6 months pregnant when I started sleeping on my left side. and so far, my baby was delivered very well. and now turning one.
just enjoy the pregnancy period and be healthy

Hi kjess! Yes, laying on the left side is good to your baby. When i was pregnant and it was really hard for me to sleep. When I felt tired on the left side,I would change on my back or just on the right side. Then my husband would ask me to lay on the left side.
As a to-be mother, you must feel excited but also a little nervous. Take it easy. Enjoy the time with your baby which will be a good memory for you!
Wish you enjoy your pregnant experience!

Hi, kjess77. When I was pregnant, I think I laid on my left side all of the time. That is the most comfortable position for me. I did know that it is not too good to lay on the back.. I want to be aware of this, so that my unborn child is fine. I hope that you have a wonderful pregnancy! Thanks for the information!

Yes, I knew about that. I'm now 35 weeks pregnant and with this big belly, it's very hard to get comfortable. Laying on one side only also uncomfy. So sometimes I still lay on my back, eventhough I know it's not good. Laying on right side hurts my ribs so bad due to my baby loves to put her foot there. Ouch!
