What are you doing to inspire change in your community?

Just heard in the news that Efren Penaflorida, the pushcart classroom educator in Cavite, Philippines; is the new CNN Hero of the Year. Personally, as a teacher I was inspired by her teaching strategy (the pushcart classroom) to reach out to the poor kids in slums who can't go to school.
As a poor kid himself and having experienced discrimination and bullying, he learned the importance of education in one's life. [b]Now he inspires change to the kids who used to be gang members and transforms them into productive citizens through his teaching strategy--the pushcart classroom that goes around in unlikely places like the cemetery, parks, slums etc. :)[b]
In his speech he posed a challenge for all of us [b]"You are the change that you dream as I am the change that I dream and collectively, we are the change that this world needs to be"[b]
So what are the changes that you dream? What are your contributions to inspire change in your community? Like Efren, I believe we all have a hero in us and we just have to search for it within us :)

I'm a little girl and I'm doing what I find useful for me as well as for the others. It's my contribution to the society, I know it's too small to give rise to a revolution, but I'm still satified. Becoming heroine is never the aim of my life. Sometime people ill-treat themselves by trying to find a great dream, whereas it's even sometime really hard to live without regret and shame.

hello, coldmoon. even little girls can be heroines. whenever you lend a helping hand to an old person in need of picking up a fallen handkerchief at the sidestreet, whenever you withhold throwing a small piece of garbage just about anywhere, whenever you help your parents with some homechores...and many more good deeds, you are a heroine by yourself.
people will always give such high praise for someone's deeds or works which are remarkably noticeable. but in all honesty, the very small things that we do each day, are the ones which do have so much more impact in our daily lives.
so please remember, be a heroine for the world each day by simply doing simple tasks with good implications.

actually, if one wants to become a true hero by leading through good example in the community, this is quite an easy task to achieve.
if one wants to live in a clean an healthy environment all that one has to do will be to observe all the points in promoting that clean and healthy environment. clean the sidestreet at the front of one's house, never throw garbage anywhere other than the appropriate garbage bins, segregate garbage properly as promoted and campaigned for by the authorities, plant all sorts of usable plants and trees, then eat healthy and thus be healthy.
there is also a need for us to lead a healthy life. instead of talking badly about others, let us do something which can make others feel good, wanted and loved. fighting against neighbors is a dirty way of living life.
yes, indeed, the little things that we do each day, can do so much for the world in general.
