A Japanese trawler kills whales for meat and there is a public protest. A villager kills a tiger because it is eating his cattle and there is public protest. A dolphin get trapped in a fisherman's net and there is such a great public sympathy. Someone accidentally makes an exotic bug become extinct....and nobody cares! Why? cos its just a bug? its ugly? creepy? crawly? Why are people more inclined to react so strongly against endangered animals that look good compared to endangered animals that people dont usually associate with 'good-looking'? Shouldnt all animals have a right to be protected?
