India`s President creates history: Flies in a fighter jet aircraft.

India`s President,Mrs Pratibha Patil, has created history by becoming the first female President in the world to fly in a fighter jet aircraft of the Indian Air Force.Clad in an AirForce fighter pilots uniform she sat in a Sukhoi jet plane, an aircraft more advanced and sophisticated than the American F-16, which took off from the Pune Lohegaon air force base at around 11.00 am today,ie 25th Nov 2009.Her flight was to be for around half an hour and her aircraft was escorted by 2 jet fighter planes.Inorder to take this flight she had been given training in a flight simulator at her abode, Rashtrapati Bhavan, in the Indian capital New Delhi. In doing so she has sent out a strong message for womens empowerment and rights and has shown that women are as equal to men when it comes to male dominated areas. She has made every Indian proud by accomplishing this feat.
