I do. I am wife and a mother to seven children. I haven't been a normal weight since I was pregnant with our first child over 16 years ago. I want and have eaten healthy in the past but find it difficult to not snack because all the snacks the kids want, are always around me. I cook from scratch every night except Fridays. I am around food all day long. I stay up late to get ready for the next day and sometimes I snack right up till I go to bed. If I don't buy the snacks I know my oldest five will get it from someone at school by trading it for something in their lunch. Don't get me wrong, we do eat our fair share of fruits, vegetables and grains. I always pack their lunches with at least two fruits, a sandwich, water and two small snacks. It's just the snacks that are my downfall. I want to find an alternative to the snacks because I really need to lose weight and it's frustrating me. Thanks! Sincerely in Christ, Leesa C. Eph.2:8,9

I got rid of 11 kilos (25 lbs almost) within a year by merely skipping my night meal. I have bowl of soup and milk. Whatever we eat in the night converts to caloris as we do not exert or exercise and there lies the secret.

Hello Iamprolife2005: This worked for me. It may be difficult for you what with having to take care of the children and all. But it is well worth it. A cardiologist gave it to me. I had thyroid surgery so I now take thyroid meds, and I am insulin resistant. I had a partial thyroidectomy so at first I had a working thyroid. In time, it quit working altogether. My weight went up and up and it was virtually impossible for me to take it off. I like this plan because I love to eat and you do not have to count calories. You just eliminate the junk. The key to this is to always eat protein with every meal or snack. It is the protein that offsets the carbs and it is the protein that will satisfy you. It took about a week for my body to stop craving the bread and butter I so dearly love. Of course, doctors always recommend an exercise program like walking or something. You probably think you are already on a treadmill with seven children. This is what the diet looks like - try to eat a little something every two hours: Eat only fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables. Eat meats, poultry, and fish baked, grilled, boiled, broiled or sauteed. 2 eggs may be substituted for meat, poultry or fish. Limit the following per day: 2 tablespoons of cooking oil - use to stir fry vegetables and meats/fish 2 tablespoons of peanut butter (great on celery) Eat only 1/2 cup servings: Carrots, corn, sweet peas, sweet potatoes, beans and any other vegetables that are high in sugar or starch Fruits should be small - they are still sweet. Eat only 1/2 banana at a time. Do not eat at all while you are trying to lose weight: Juices, sodas (not even diet), dried fruits, nuts, watermelon, grapes. Any foods that contain white: sugar, flour, pasta, potatoes, popcorn. Eat only the tuna in water (not oil). Eat cuts of meat that are low in fat Remove skin from chicken (The diet called for this. I never did. I made it really crisp so I would have something to chew on. ) Eat only whole grain breads and cereals and in small servings. Eliminate completely while you are trying to lose weight: All white foods - sugar, flour, rice, potatoes and pasta. Eat everything fresh or frozen. Nothing fried. Eat only baked, grilled, boiled, broiled or sauteed. No nuts or dried fruits. I kept boiled eggs and the small 3 oz packages of sliced turkey handy. I also kept cut up veggies in the frig. I could eat that without guilt whenever I wanted and it always took the edge off. The motivation comes when you see the pounds start to melt away. God bless. I wish you success.

Thank you for BR. I have faith that you will lose the weight you need to be healthy. Your name, iamprolife, says it all. It means you also care enough about the life that God gave you, as well as the life of your children, to take care of yourself in the best way possible. I am now inspired to get back on this diet. Let's do it together. God bless.

Thanks for responding. I had heard of that kind of a procedure before, but don't know anyone who had it done. All the food that you mention I do eat but I will try it your way. I also drink water only and rarely any juice or soda so I don't have to worry about giving those up. The only trouble I have is eliminating the white foods but I will try my best. Thanks again. Sincerely in Christ, Leesa C. Eph.2:8,9

Well, snacks is a Big downfall for everyone and the majority of all people would Love to be able to loose a couple of extra pds as well. Sometimes I think it is really important to learn what to eat that can help with this as well, and being able to do some extra excercising will help as well. Some of the good things to snack on are raw vegetables or things like apples. Just watch what you put on these as well. I was never able to have any kids Full term myself but have had to fight with weight due to being Diabetic though myself.

Thanks for your response. I sympathize with you on having preemies. I too have had 2 premature babies out of seven children: Our oldest (16yo) was born at 30 weeks and our fourth (7 yo) was born at 35 weeks. They are fine now. I don't have diabetes but I do have subclinical hyperthyroidism. I think that may be the culprit to not being able to lose the weight. I have been at or near 200 lbs since our seventh was born 14 months ago. I am only 5'3" tall and it's sometimes a struggle to get around. Sincerely in Christ, Leesa C. Eph.2:8,9

I find it hard. Early this year, I lost 30 pounds by counting calories. I wouldn't eat any more than 1600 calories per day. I would also exercise at least 1 hour per day, but it eventually I fell behind on other things that I needed to do and thus, I went back to my old eating habits and I don't exercise as often. I have managed to keep off about half the weight I lost, but it really is hard to do. I'm hoping to get back on track and lose some more weight soon. I wish you luck with your weight loss.

Thanks singlemommy. It's good to know I'm not the only one. We could be a help to each other. I'm going to try a website I heard about here called sparkpeople. It is free to join and is a community of people who want and are losing weight. Thanks for your response. Sincerely in Christ, Leesa C. Eph.2:8,9
