am just wondering because even pumpkin pies are saleable during thanksgiving time. The very food that I know, it is tied to thanksgiving is the Turkey.. but then I am wondering why pumpkin is also on the go during thanksgiving? I am not from America I just migrate so, I don't have any idea.. Just curious to know.

My friend I really would not know. What can you expect from your fellow Filipino like me? Ha!ha!ha! I don't even know if your pumpkin is the same as our kalabasa here. Can you please tell me dear if it is just the same as our Kalabasa? And how does the pumpkin pie taste? Calabasa here is only for veggie dish. Oh how I love ginataang kalabasa actually. But your pumpkin is used even for dessert. So instead of answering your question, I am now the one asking you? Ha!ha!ha!

hahaha actually, I am glad you ask question my friend so that my topic will not get zero response. I think, many people here do not know also why pumpkin is associated with thanksgiving... To answer your question, yes, pumpkin looks like kalabasa (squash) but the color is orange our squash there had lost of colors, green, yellow, sometimes a combination of green and yellowish.. but pumpkin is orange and in different sizes. They usually use this for decorations.. and they are expensive before thanksgiving. Like $3-5 a piece depending on the size. hahah if I convert that into peso? that is too much than our expensive kalabsa there. The pumpkin pie taste like mashed kalabasa with sugar hahaha... I am not a fan of pumpkin pie. We bought one last Wednesday, and you know how much we paid for a small round pie? $5.. until now we did not eat it yet. We forgot about it.. hahaha,,,

Oh thanks a lot friend for giving me enough description of pumpkin. So only the color and the shape I think has differ but the taste of pumpkin and kalabasa are the same? Now that you described to me the taste of pumpkin pie, I would say that I will just stick to our native buko pie, of course the original buko that is being sold only in one outlet in Los Banos Laguna, not the imitations, ha!ha!ha! Imagine, almost everyone talks about doing and preparing a pumpkin pie. I thought it tastes something really special. And by the way, you are like me. Sometimes I will buy delicacies and will forget about it. Only when I examine the refrigerator will I realize there are many untouched delicacies inside. Ha!ha!ha!
