I thought it was a practical joke of some kind, but it is true that Apple will not repair broken down Apple computers or Mac Books if they are deemed to be contaminated with smoking residues. To add insult to injury, your Applecare warranty will be void too. The reason Apple service center give is that these smoke contaminated sets are a bio hazard and as such could not be touched for servicing. I do not know how smoking Mac users will think but I see this as an unfair discrimination to smokers in general. You may want to call it crap but I think so far 2 cases of appeal have been unsuccessful where the sets have to be repaired individually elsewhere. So, to all Mac users who are smokers...just beware. Smoking in general is a filthy habit. There is a lot of research and proof of what it can do to the human lungs, so I believe it when I hear that. Though you may be right, but people will most likely get away with it. But at the same time its not any differant then the warenties out there for PC users that won't cover damage they belive is caused on perpouse or an act of god. While Apple may look like they are targeting smokers (which they are) , people should learn to exercises common sence and take care of their eletronics.
