Well, there are happenings in our country that have a brand of "onli in d philippines" as we know it. Can you site samples?
It is only in the Philippines where:
Most likely, a broadcaster can be a Vice President of the country.
Killers, especially those in the upper class of society, can roam around freely because of government contacts.
Senators can endorse on detergent ads.
Political dynasties can do whatever they can in the province they are leading.
What else can you think of mga kababayans?

Another thing is that whenever election year approaches, you can see independent people who registers in Comelec. They are later considered nuisance candidates but our system is so lax and our rights are observed and protected that the Comelec allows them to file their candidacy.
Well, the Comelec cuts down this candidates with their own criteria so what's left are the ones who can really compete in the national level.

hi ethan^^;;
i really enjoyed reading the posts above. i can't help but to be amused.
there are positive and negative "onli's"
i have received an email before citing why should we proud to be Filipino's. there were many like Norton antivirus are actually programmed and developed here(this is just one i can remember) but anyway, i think serious things is not the point of your discussion but to entertain...i love to laugh at our own misfortune and unique behavior
one thing: Only pinoys take spoons, forks, towels, slippers, etc from airplanes during their flights and from hotels to give as "pasalubong" or souvenirs to their relatives

6. Guys who pee everywhere
7. People who spit everywhere
8. A lot of badjao people "esp. in alabang"

You are right about "taong grasa". They are everywhere, and as a Christian nation, no one seems to care. How ironic. We, as Christians, should help our neighbors, regardless of how they look like. We should be helping them more. Don't you think so?

hello ethan,
only here that we have colorum vehicles that violates traffic rules like coding but most of the time tends to get away with it similar to colorum jeeps. and most vehicles drives as if they are on the race track that keeps the pedestrians crossing the street, it's not easy though but true, better than going for taxi which is expensive. and only where we got to used tricycles as a public transport, unfortunately no more pedicab. only in the philippine where we get to be smart and most use it for bad reasons or to discredit other people...
.. regarding your discussion, i completely agree with on that.1 person likes this

Also, you might say that we are the only country in the world that have jeepneys as public utility vehicles.

Its only in the Philippines where suspected massacre mastermind that killed 64 people will be picked up by two Huey government military helicopter with two assault helicopters as escorts and with a cabinet secretary by his side smiling and talking with no handcuffs at all.
Its only in the Philippines when a Pacquiao boxing match can render zero crime rates all over the country on that particular day.

That's very observant of you iceydon. Not only that, you can also add, maybe that mastermind will be given a special treatment in his stay in jail. Maybe we'll see it very soon.

Hi. I could feel your frustrations about the Philippines. Well, I could not really blame you.
But I would like to cite my own sample list of "only in the Philippines" facts:
1. People - only the Philippines has Manny Pacquiao, Corazon Aquino, Jose Rizal and many more.
2. Places - only the Philippines has 7,000+ beautiful islands
3. Events - only the Philippines has People Power Revolution
4. Animals - only the Philippines has monkey-eating eagles, tarsiers, etc.
I could add many negative things in contrast to what I have written above, but I prefer not. I would like to focus on the positive aspects of our country. I believe that other countries have far worst "negative onlys."

Yes, you may be true but the fact remains the same. Lets be true to our heritage, our culture, may it be positive or negative. That's what makes us different from the rest of the world. That's makes what we do "onli in the philippines".

I have seen that coin thing also. Even coins are used to gamble in the streets: cara y cruz (heads or tails).
