I was actually sitting where I am now, doing just what I'm doing, writing in MyBot, when I heard it...a soft, but needy, insistent call--& it was very close! I stepped to my patio door & drew back he blinds, my heart beating faster. There he was, probably just out for a stroll...maybe seeking another, perhaps bored with his mistress? Drawn by his beauty--he was young, far too young, in fact, for the likes of me, but ohhh, he was so black he reminded me of the midnight sky above us, what with the twinkling stars in his gorgeous eyes, & I...I confess, temptation got the better of me. I flattered myself that maybe..hopefully, he might be attracted to an old cougar such as I. He looked at me, & I whispered to him, "Please...come inside." He thought it over, & started to reach for my fingertips, but, perhaps struck by shyness, or maybe a snap of guilt at having flirted so shamelessly with someone to whom he clearly didn't belong, he drew back a bit & gazed into my eyes. Yes, I got a glimpse of certain jewelry which informed me he was taken...& I realized my own household held a sweet, trusting soul, whom I could never betray. He looked past my shoulder, almost scenting her presence, gave me a regretful look, & stepped away from my patio fence. But not without a long, last look at what might have been, before he melted into the night once more. I sighed deeply, & turned to go inside again, remembering there could only be one, legally, who was to stay with me. I found her in the bedroom, sleeping in our bed. I leaned over & kissed the top of her head. She awoke with a startled little sound, then snuggled up next to me as I laid down. I am sooo lucky. I will never again even think of straying from my beloved little cat, who dearly loves me (though she doesn't always tell me so), & even if she's not quite so shiny & ebony-furred, & doesn't wear a pretty red collar & little red bell! Yep! Guilty as charged! Professionally & in amateur pages, writer since before I knew physically how to make letters on a page! (I talked Mom into teaching me long before I went to government school) I remember "publishing" my first story. I illustrated it, too! It had several pieces of paper I sewed together, & lines of unadulterated scribble, which of course I had to read to everyone, as no-one but I could read my "handwriting!" It was about a scary devil, which the heroine (guess who) defeated! What sort of fiction do you enjoy? Maggiepie STALKERS WILL BE EATEN BY AN ATTACK CAT!___^..^

Good for u. I have been reading all my life. i STARTED OUT W/NANCY DREW MYSTERIES WHEN I WAS VERY YOUNG My best friend, Elic, introduced me to those as an adult. She has some of the original editions, which are much better written than newer ones. I plowed through all of them, & the Hardy Boys series (of which I was already aware, through the Disney Mouseketeers show). & MYSTERIES ARE STILL MY FAVE TILL THIS DAY. Have you discovered Lilian Jackson Braun's mystery series, "The Cat Who..." which features a semi-retired newspaper columnist & his 2 marvelous Siamese cats, the prescient Koko & dainty Yum Yum? If you love mysteries, she's a fine writer, & if love cats, Koko & Yum Yum will steal your heart! The supporting characters are very memorable, & the town where he lives, "Pickax," is as well! Each book in the series begins with the 3 words "The Cat Who" & continues with words relative to the story ("The Cat Who Sniffed Glue," "The Cat Who Played Post Office," etc.). I'd recommend Googling them up! Thanks for asking, have a good one. I like your bold print, my eyes are bad & it helps a lot. ANTIQUE--that's exactly why I use the bold! Thanks, hun! But as to how far they'd go, remember 2 things: One, most MyBotters aren't lacking in gray matter (especially cat lovers! ), & two, this was posted in Cats, after all, so they had to have that clue to start out with! I'm hoping more folks will see it, too, & now that this discussion has hit the Digest--maybe it will! Meanwhile, glad you enjoyed it; it was so much fun to write! If you know any cat lovers (or Romance lovers, for that matter...), then why not use the little pink envelope up at the top to mail them an invitation to come see? (I just found out about that feature, myself!) Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"

Oh, how nice, now I have a new one to be on the look out. I did see a new, handsome black cat on Friday - wonder if that was the same cat

Fairly young, solid black, red collar, tags & a bell? Let me know. He seems really sweet! You know, to be honest, I'm not positive he is a he, since he...or she...never actually turned around close enough for me to see! Just..something (?) about him said "he." Maggiepie END VIOLENCE ON EVERYONE...PERIOD!

The momma cat was glaring at the black cat I saw, so I'm suspecting that one was male. Didn't have a collar on then, but management may have told them that if they let him/her out he/she needs a collar. I too suspect male, as they are more likely to roam - even Minnie will only go a short way now unless she's following me, and I try to keep her in when I go out.

Okay.... that sounds like a short story or a story teaser. When I read it I was like O.o... Lol. I'm sure my own cats (well Precious) feels the same way.

Well, it was a short story--though a true one! It happened night before last, & he really was sooo pretty! And I might add, very acrobatic. It wouldn't have fit into the story, so I left it out, but at one point he rolled over atop the narrow fence, & almost stood on his head to impress me! That would have immediately brought the whole "romance" to a screeching (& hilarious) stop if anyone had been picturing a human male! I just hope you enjoyed it! I should add that every word is true--if misleading. For example, I have it in my rental contract that I am allowed only one pet, & if another gets taken in, I will be evicted! So you see, "legally" he really never could be mine! I had fun writing it. Glad you enjoyed it! That's why I wrote it; to give everyone a smile!
