Maurice Clemmons, the alleged gunman sought in the recent slaying of four Seattle-area police officers, was released from a Washington jail just six days ago, but it's his prior release from an Arkansas prison that is returning in news accounts to haunt the then-governor of the state, Mike Huckabee. read more http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=117547 No matter what you think of him, whats done is done. But I would HATE to be in his shoes. What do you think?

I watched him in an interview and you could clearly see the agony in his face over this, he accepts full responsability for his decision. That being said..... All he did was comute his sentence to make him eleigable for parole. This same parole was not granted until many years after his sentence was commuted. Hackabe did not in fact free Clemmons, he commuted a 100 plus year sentence on a 16 year old kid to a lower one with parole eligablity. It seems to me the more responsable was the judges who more recently granted a rediculously low bail for a pretty haneous crime (child rape). One could even say the parole board from years ago in Arkansas missed this one when they granted him parole. I have a lot of respect though for Governor Huckabee for owning up to a decision he made long ago.

I posted this discussion at the beginning of the issue. Hind sight and all that jazz..... i do believe that Huckabee feels terrible and that he did what most people would have done.
