When you've lost something expensive what would you do?

My older sister lost her gold bracelet during her party at home. She just put it on her room, and she know who stayed at her room, those were her closest friend. She told them that her bracelet was lost and no one knows. If it happened to you, what would you do?

Hi,
I have lost my mobile, which is expensive than other things that i have owned. First i doesn't know what to do. Then i contact to my friend and i have asked money from him. But at that time, he is not having such a big amount of money to give. So frankly, i told my mom that i have lost my mobile during journey. She get tensed at first and she advised me not to be careless when we are in travelling.
I think the same think will happen, when i lost my gold chain or bracelet.
