Tendency to grow long hair is more for woman than for men. Why is this so? Is it something related to the tasks performed by both the sexes in the ancient times.

Our hair is the crowning glory and having a long hair adds more to one's beauty. When I was younger, I had a waist-length black shiny hair. But now that I am in my late 30's, I can no longer have hair for I get excessive hairloss whenever my hair gets long. It is an effect of my hormonal imbalance after I gave birth. Have a wonderful day.

i think women tend to grow their hair long because this is something that they notice first when beautifying themselves. there are many things that can be done to long hair so that is why they (probably) kept it long. however, not all women can get away with long hair and there are many beauties that would stand out more if they just cut that too much of a hair.

I guess one way of looking at it is that long hair is like a bit of a "status" to women. I wouldn't say that it's the case for all women, as it really isn't for me, but I think that it's probably the case for quite a few.

I don't think so. I think it is because it's more feminine to have long hair. Another reason would be it's less costly to have long hair. You don't have to keep running to the salon every 2 weeks and yet you don't look all too messy. The most untidy time a person look is when their hair are growing from short length hair to middle length hair. And you can't tie them up to keep them neat.
