I remember her voice in Around the world in which Raj Kapoor and Rajashri acted. If I am correct, Sharada sings the song 'Eh manzil dek kar jana, chale jana' something like this the song has lyrics in it. Though her voice is somewhat nasal type, there is certainly a unique attraction in it. Thanks for reminding the old voice of bollywood.

Very true Vandana, Sharada lacked the versatality. But certainly her voice was good, enjoyable. I do not feel the around the world songs, any other person sang, would have suited to Rajashree, the heroin. I am sooooooooooo happy to see some one talking about so many number songs of those days. I felt as though I listened to all those songs.

Wow, I am so glad to get some people who know old Hindi numbers. I feel so out of place at times because only I seem to be knowing the famous numbers of that time. :) I agree with you about the quality of Sharada's voice. However, I was always Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle fan. The other singers I could like was Sudha Malhotra (Darshan Do Ghanshyamnath ..., and Tum mujhe bhool bhi jaao to yeh hak hai tumko, Geeta Dutt - koi chupke se aake, aaj ki kaali ghata, suno gajar kyaa gaaye, babuji dheere chalna, jaane kahan mera jigar gaya ji, piya aiso jiya mein, naa jaao saiyaan chuda ke baiyaan, and of course Tadbeer se bigadi hui taqdeer bana le, Jagjit Kaur - tum apna ranjo gum, even Noor Jahan and Suraiyya. I think the only two who could really survive against Asha Bhonsle and Lata Mangeshkar were Geeta Dutt, and Suman Kalyanpur. I do think Sharada lacked the versatility these people had displayed. Moreover, the texture would look odd on most leading ladies of the time, as there should be some voice match for the leading lady to burst into a song. :)

Hello Yuga. How are you ? Yes, I have heard of the name Sharada, but have not heard her songs or seen movies. But, I like watching Bollywood movies very much, very well directed, very artistic, and full of cultural values. I have been to India twice and very impressed with cultural centres in the cities. Now that you have reminded me, I will look for songs of Sharada. Thank you.

Yes I do remember all these songs you mentioned. In fact film Suraj was one of my favourites. Rajendra Kumar and Vyjyantimala were there in it. Though she had nasal voice still I loved them very much but how come you know all these films? They were all hindi films.

Yeah that number is from Rajashree's movie, isn't it? V. Shantaram's daughter. And I think it was Raj Kapoor who was the hero of that film.

Yes Yugasini. I remember. And it created quie a lot of controversies at that time. There was a dispute between the duo, as one of them wanted the song to be given to an already established singer of the time, while the other wanted to experiment with new voices. If I remember right, they split after that. Individually, their music was never of the same caliber as before. :(
