Elton John's Adoption  

I agree with you. If Elton can very well afford to provide for the needs of the sick child, I think the adoption by him would be alright.

I didn't hear about this. I think it is so sad. Clearly Elton John has the money and means to take care of a child, and the fact that he wants to adopt and care for a child that is sick, a child that most people would not want to adopt or simply not have the money or resources to care for a sick kid. I don't believe any reason is good is this case, I don't think that a person should have to be married or be a young person, all that should matter is can he provide a home, clothing, food, love, medical care for that kid. And obviously he has the resources for all of the above. So many families that are considered "normal" and "traditional" are messed up beyond words, yet he just wanted to adopt and make life a little better for a child who has to grow up misunderstood, alone and stigmatized for their illness. I understand that adoption can't be an easy task, you can't just let anyone take a baby to raise, but the reasons of age and marital status don't work, especially considering Elton John is a very wealthy man. I'm sure sexual orientation plays a part in there as well, although, they couldn't really admit that because I don't think they could get away with that as easily as using the excuse of age.

I hope that somehow he is able to adopt this kid, and if not him, that another loving and able family is able to, because every kid deserves a family to love them, regardless of what that family looks like, whether it's traditional or non-traditional, as long as they have the love and resources/stability to care for them that should be the only issue.

A brilliant talented man, well liked and admired and respected may not have the child because of his age and single status?? ffft!

Let it be because the child does NOT speak English and there is no way that this 'would be father'(Elton) can pay to have a Ukrainian nanny and nurse to help him care for this child in something other than an institution. ffft!

The world is quick to look after animals, as programs from America and England flood our TV here in Sweden and DON*T do anything other than utter kindness to an animal in those countries.. but a small little sick boy may NOT be adopted and given the love of a warm giving man.. yes .. we really do know why.. let them prove it isn't so.

Does adopting a child needs the adopter to be married and young?
or is it supposed to be having financial ability to raise one?

For the child to wait for married and young couple to adopt him should be like waiting for rain on the sahara desert. Moreover he is HIV positive.

let the child has better life by being adopted by someone who will raise and care for him.

It's the law in that country, whether people like it or not. You HAVE to be married to be able to adopt a child, and they don't recognize homosexual unions to be marriages.

I think the authorities in the Ukraine did the right thing. They upheld the law of the land, that's the long and short of it.
