Poverty is the state of being poor.In our society many people are below the poverty line. It happens for a number of causes in India.Such causes are low wages, unemployment, irregular employment, death of the wage-earner,illness and old age. It produces many bad effects, such as,inadequate accommodation, insufficient food, inadequate clothing and poor health. Moreover, the poor people get few opportunities to improve their condition in life. However, the West Bengal Government has now taken a program me for making BPL cards,i.e.,the cards for those who are below the poverty line. They may get essential commodities at cheap rate through the Ration shops and some other facilities for health and education.

..that's a nice starting.. I do believe the cards would be a great help for those people.. I have seen the movie slumdog millionaire and I saw how terrible life is in the slum communities.. we also have slums here in our country but not like that.. they can still survive and earn money thru simple means.. I hope the government will continue to devise programs and teach your people how to earn for a living so that they won't always be depending on the things being given to them freely..
