The fighting techniques in Rurouni Kenshin |
| |
| I was talking with some friends the other day about the fighting techniques in this anime. They practice ninjutsu and their sensei tought them a lot about samurai sword and combat techniques. I was very surprised to find out that the tehnique with the flash draw Kenshin used actually exists! And that there are masters who can do that in under 1 second! My question is : Who's technique from the anime did you like best and why? Do you know of any real refference for that tehnique? (a live character who actually used it)Also, why do people still learn this technoques today? What could their application be in the world we live today? | | | | | |

| | well, baby, I know the character aioshi shigamaro... the one who uses the two swords, ... Have you seen 'yaiba?' I actually thought tht the character was just a made-up-character, but the name musashi miyamoto really existed in history. I found out about it when I was reading about zen. Musashi was also using two swords, I forgot the term. I think they call it 'kudatchi'. I really like warriors using two swords, they're cool Anway, I think people study this kind of skill during those times because their way of defending themselve or maybe they were born to kill someone. But nowadays, I think it's for the sake arts. What do you think? | | | | | | |

| | Hey there, Roger, thanks for joining the discussion. Yes, I know about Musashi, the rogue samurai. I know he was a real character, not just a fictional one. And I too find fascinating the technique of fighting with two swords. I believe people nowadays still learn martial arts of all sorts because it's a way to keep their bodies healthy, learn some discipline and excercise their mind as well. It's all like a big strategy game in which you have to think very fast, to choose you defense and offense movements and obsevre the opponent in the same time. I find it very fascinating. Especially since certain things I saw in movies and anime are actually real! There were/are people who can actually do that..Without special effects. | | | |

| | I really like the techniques of the character who is 'emotionless'. His speed and power is very strong and the fact that he doesn't feel any emotion is also a plus for him. However, I could not actually believe that in reality, someone will be able to do that kind of thing. | | | | | | |

| | Hey there, bishopluc! Glad you joined us. I don't think emotionless people exist, though I know medical records register some strange cases about people who can feel no pain. I do believe self-control is very important when you practice martial arts. The character in Rurouni Kenshin was just an exageration of the real thing, but it was very fun to watch. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Also, I would like to know your opinion on "why people still learn martial arts today" Happy myloting! | | | |

| | I believe they do so for self-defense and some other people simply think that it is cool to know some martial arts. Watching Anime also may contribute. Children might think that he or she can be like this character or that character and they practically force their parents to have them enrolled in martial art training. | | | | | | |
