on line applications...

I can usually land a job pretty quick. The trouble is that I was working three jobs in Chicago. I had only lived there for three months. Then my son had a tragic wreck and I flew back down south to take care of him. Now he is in a nursing home but I have to find a job in the evenings. I take care of him during the day. Anyway, it looks like I had three jobs that I just walked out on and then I haven't worked in the last year. These applications on line don't always allow for explanations. anyone else have similar trouble?

I know exactly what you mean, online applications don't allow for the ups and downs in life and that is why I hate them, I have always stayed away from most online applications and rather go to a proper interview.
Any interviewer worth his salt would applaud you for being a carer to your son and would see you as an asset.
I do hope your son will be ok.

I always feel better if I can get a face to face interview. I guess I am going old school on this one. I prefer the old way here! He is getting better, it's been a long journey!

Hi mac
I do know what you are saying. I like to feel out the online apps and then I get a phone number to where I submitted the app and ask for the manager. Sometimes that works best for me. I get the oppunity to tell them why I have a laspe of time of work history. I wish the online apps gave you the chance to explain a little more in detail.
I wish you the best on finding a job. I know that it must be real hard for you right now and it seems that jobs are so far and in between.
Have a nice evening.
Keep smiling.

Every once in awhile an application will ask why you left a job or leave a spot for additonal comments, but for the most part it's just cut and dried!

Try to do a call up. I have learned that this gives the manager the knowledge that you are really interested in the job. I hope you can get he job that you are seeking.
Keep smiling.

Thank you so much for the best wishes! He is getting better slowly! I really prefer one to one apps. I like people and it seems better to be able to actually talk to a real life person!thanks
