I used to like Stargate SG-1 and I can still watch some of the re-runs. I also like the periodic movie specials they put out. It took a little while but I also got into Stargate Atlantis. I'm still having trouble getting into Stargate Universe. Years ago, I used to watch Battlestar Gallactica, but that was only to look for the ways they messed up science. Like having a fire in a vacuum or exposing humans to the vacuum of space without wearing a pressure suit. As bad as the original was, I couldn't get into the new show, because they changed to many things. I liked most of the Star Trek shows, except I don't much care for the original. The lack of special effects dates the show. BBC America has come up with some good shows. Like Torchwood, which I hope continues for another season. Primeval was great and it's a shame it was cancelled because it was too expensive. I also like Dr. Who and I'm wondering if the new shows due out with be the last. Or are they the last for David Tennant. Or are they the last for now until they revive the show like they've done in the past. Well enough for me. What's your opinion?

Star Trek, Star Trek: Next Generation, and Dr. Who with David Tennant. Man, that David Tennant is hot!

I guess my favorite sci-fi shows are on the other end of the spectrum of science fiction from yours. Well first, I want to point out I don't get BBC America, so it isn't possible for me to have seen some of the ones you mentioned. But my favorite science fiction TV shows are/were Supernatural (LOVE it), the now canceled Angel (never was a Buffy fan), and the first seven years of The X-Files. The last two seasons of that show stunk. So did the second movie.

I was into the X-Files when it first came out and also lost interest when Muldef left. I'm now watching Fringe. I've been watching Supernatural. I didn't watch Angel, but did watch Moonlight.

To answer your second to last question, David Tennant is leaving the show. They have an eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, who is a relative newcomer. He's been in a couple of movies and some other British TV shows. He's 27 and, from what I have seen of him, nowhere near as highly caffeinated as David Tennant
And Torchwood is coming back
If I can't have Tennant, at least I get to keep John Barrowman. LOL
Soooo that brings me to my real answer.... Doctor Who is one of my favorites. I started watching when most Americans did, with Christopher Eccelston (the ninth doctor). I've seen older episodes with the other Doctors and Tennant is leaps and bounds above the rest as my favorite. I am going to cry like a baby when he's gone
Also, Heroes, X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel. I watched Smallville for the first *counts on fingers* five seasons (I think) but it started getting repetitive so I quit watching it.

I first the series Dr. Who in the late '70's when I was at Iowa State. My apratment did not have cable and there were only 4 TV channels so I started watching Dr. Who on PBS instead of the local news. That was with Tom Brown, the first younger Dr. Who. Baker has the record for being in the most episodes and the most years. His main companion at that time was Sarah Jane who was so many years later spun off with her own series starring the same actress. (I hope Sarah Jane comes back.) He also had a companion named Leela who was probably the sexiest companion based on her costume. Although the show was low budget, Brown is my favorite of the early Doctors where I never really saw the first three and never paid attention to any of the others until Eccelston brought back the role. For Torchwood, I've been wondering who the new members might be. I'm expecting Capt. Jack and Gwen to come back. I'm wondering if the Doctor's recent companion, Martha, will take over Owen's job. Could Rhys replace Ianto, at least in terms of being the gopher type person who keeps things glued together? Then you just need a new computer expert to replacde Toshiko.

I've watched both Stargate SG1 and SG Atlantis at least twice from 1st to last episode on one of the streaming sites as for Universe, I agree with you, it was more like a soap opera.
