Do you have a habit of rubbing your eyes?

We all know that rubbing our eyes is bad. However, most of us still cannot stop the urge of rubbing it especially if our eyes feel itchy and irritated. The most common reaction is to rub the eyes and put pressure on it. Even I, is guilty of that. 
Though, I know that doing so would lead to eye irritation and infection, I am still having a hard time avoiding that bad habit of mine.
It is bad to rub eyes especially if your hands are dirty. The bacteria on your hands will go into your eyes and may possibly cause an infection. We can also damage our Cornea. Constant hard rubbing of the eyes caused by excruciating eyelid itching can lead to permanent eye damage and loss of vision. 
It is also not right to rub our eyes in front of the children for they will imitate what we are doing. Correcting them would be very hard. I believe, the rubbing of eyes would be more dangerous for them for their eyes are not yet fully develop. They are more sensitive...

hi lovelyn. it is the matter of infection if you are habituate to rub your eyes. so i am not addicted to this action. but when i feel tired and want to give arest to my eyes then i just close my eyes for some while. ohhhh... if the case of itchy arises then i rub my eyes but i close it before rub.

hi shibham! Yes you will definitely ruin the eyes if you rub it habitualy. It will absolutely cause damage, irritation and infection more so if your hands are dirty... Closing our eyes and resting it for awhile helps relaxing tired ichy eyes...

I have never known that it is not good to rub your own eyes. I do it all the time when they are itchy and I am tired. I also think its cute when ypung children and babies do it! My fiancee loves rubbing her eyes she tells me that it tingles and feels good so I am very shocked that it is bad for us!
