On what basis you name your children..

We usually see that our mother or father's name will be present in our children name..so what is your criteria in naming them..

In our custom, we keep three names to the child. One is forefather/mother's name. This is done so that the blessings of our forefather/mother will be there on the child always. Second as per family custom, like some families will keep Naga name in some form or other. Hence Nagamma, Seshamma, Subramanya, Adi Sesha etc. will be kept. Third one will be as per either letters that come from horoscope or some name as per the parents' choice or as per numerology or as per both the reasons. Some people select names from some stotram books like Lalitha Sahasranamam, Vishnu Sahasranamam etc.

hi,we too usually do the same,not only me,many Indians do like this..in some parts of the area,there is a common tag for all names at the end of their names,which come from their fore fathers..
