| Hernia Surgery  | | | |  I just found out I have a hernia by my belly button and that I am going to have to have surgery. I am a 42 year old female.
Has anyone out there had this kind of surgery. This will be my first surgery ever.
Can anyone out there tell me a little about it, if they have first hand experience.
I'm a little worried here.

| |  all I can tell you is my grandmother had it when she was 65 an she was ok she puled though like a troper an keep in mind she was also diabetic an had no problems

| |  No sweat littlehill! I had this done 20 yrs ago. Watch coughing or sneezing, it can hurt. I didn't realize that about everything I did affected this area. So I had to take it easy lifting and strenuous stuff. This was my second in that area, the other was above the naval. At the time I was in construction so time off work was necessary. Like I said, that was 20+ years ago and I suppose things have improved since then. Try not to worry, stress affects the muscles also. Just do what the doc says and you'll do fine. By the way I tried putting mine off and it did get worse so my guess would be the sooner the better. Good Luck!

I found out about it 2 days ago and they want me to do nothing until surgery. They are hoping to get me in some time next week. I am already bored out of my mind. Thank God for computers. | | If you've already had the surgery I hope it went well for you. If not, don't sweat, as if it's keyhole, you should be okay after a week. My mom had surgery near her belly button to remove her gall bladder last summer and she was back at work within 10 days and in her bikini a week or so later on the beach.
