Direction is always judged from a perspective. What is on the left side of me, is maybe on your right side. So what is north, is maybe actually be the south.
So, if someone starts from the equator and heads south, he will ultimately reach north pole, or somewhere near there and then if he proceeds further north he will actually be coming down or heading south. Why? Well, incase you forgot, the earth is spherical.

I love traveling to different places in the world. In the world the furthest north I have been is Narvik in Norway. I have been to New Zealand and Dunedin is the furthest south I have been in the world. My last trip was to South Africa. I visited South Africa. I wouldn't have been able to go any further south than that.

That is a good question Boyetski... Well I'm no scientist or anything but logically since the Earth is in shape of sphere (oblated spheriod to be exact), you can visualize yourself going up north, but then when you are from the north pole and you keep going "up" you are actually going down south.
