I am wondering you guys purchase extended warrenty for goods you purchase. My friend in USA purchased a TV for $ 800 and paid $ 300 for 3 yrs extended warranty on it. I don't think it is wise or not but he says that if something happens to his TV he will get new one. What are your opinion on this topic ?

He shouldn't get those warranty, since the television set right now are pretty reliable. He shouldn't waste that $300 for that extended warranty. I still got my tube that was used for over 10 years already. Can you believe it. I just stored it because I bought a new television set, one of those HDTV.

I don't think that we have this kind of service of purchasing extended warranty in my place. It is something new that I have learned today. I don't think that I need to purchase it as the warranty is usually written on the warranty when we buy some items. Years ago, we bought a washing machine and when something was wrong, we used to call the shop where we bought it and they would send a repairman to our house for it. I think that the after-service is included free of charge.

If I am buying a computer, then I will purchase one. On very expensive and hard to replace items I will buy one, but not necessarily for cheaper things.
