Are you a picker of scabs and other skin ailments?

I cringe that I am starting this discussion, I know it is very, very gross and I do apologize, and I put this in the people section because I believe in general, usually a person is a picker or is not. My mother is a picker, I usually am not. BUT i have had my shingles scab for well over a week now, so in a stupid thought, I pulled the scab off thinking it would be healed underneath. It was not, it is now very raw, still not healed, and very sore
. This normally NON picker should have stayed with her instincts, but for some reason ,I could not help myself. Please share if you are a picker or not, or you non-pickers out there, has there ever been a time when you went outside your nature like I did?

Hello, Spicysweetie - yes, I am a picker, much to my husband's disgust! We had a plague of very aggressive mosquitos here in Spain in October, and my only consolation was picking off the huge yellow crusts that formed.
Of course, being a picker means my scabs take ages to heal and leave a white scar on my suntanned skin, so I always keep a jar of 'snail cream' to hand. This is a skin cream with snail serum from the trails they leave, and it very quickly gets rid of new scars, and even diminishes old ones. You can buy it in the UK, but it's very expensive - over here, a large jar which has already lasted me almost a year is only 15 euros.

Oh wow, we have things over here to help prevent or minimize scars, here in the U.S, I am not too worried about having a scar because I don't have scars in general and the ones that I do usually fade quick, I have no idea why I picked the scab off, it was totally unlike me, part of the reason was yes it itched a bit, just like I imagine your mosquito bites did. I will have to look into the snail serum and see if they sell it here though.

Guilty! I do it subconciously usually. I'm bad at it too if I break out at all, can't seem to just leave it alone! A lady I work with has ben know to repeatedly tell me "QUIT PICKING!!!"
I also have a small patch of psoriasis on my knees...my husband usually catches me peeling the dry skin off (and usully smacks my hand, lol)

Hi, spicysweetie21. No, I am not a picker. I may accidentally scratch my scab or cause a scab by scratching. Once it has become a scab, I will not mess with it. I will let it heal and fall off on its own. I may scratch a bump or bust a pus blister, but I don't want to pick at any scabs. When the scab has not healed yet it will bleed causing it to become more irritated.
