I have been on a sixty percent no claim bonus for a long, long time. I made a claim last year when I damaged my car when a roo hit me, but the company did not remove the no claim bonus.
Shortly afterwards, I changed companies and I was still able to have my bonus.
How good is that?

...Hi Ms Tickle, Now that is about the best I have heard about an insurance company in a very long time. My girlfriend gets a yearly check as a refund from her company, but a sixty percent bonus is a substantial amount of savings. It was not removed probably because of your good history and the time you were with the company. That is great. People pay year after year, sometimes never having an accident and it is a good thing when the company recognizes what good customers they have and gives them some kind of reward. Take it easy and thanks for your comment. Good show!

Many people would be on the 60% NCB. You work up to it gradually so some I guess would never see it. Insurance is really expensive in this country. The last place I was with I think I was paying around $400 with around the same "excess". In case you don't know..."excess" is what the insured pays up front if they have an accident.
The under 25's pay the most...huge premiums and huge excess....youngsters need Mummy and Daddy to pay if they are still at school/uni or not earning much. I just wish Mummy and Daddy would assess how well their kids can drive and how responsible they are before forking out the dollars.
