I looked at a website about Malaria and I am happy so say that I haven't ever got it. It can be caught from just one mosquito bite. I have been to a few countries where Malaria is possible. One of those was Kenya. There I had side affects so I stopped taking the anti Malaria pills. One man went to visit family in India. Eight months after coming home he caught Malaria. He was really ill and almost died. A lady and her husband went on vacation to the Gambia. Her husband got lots of bites and she didn't think she got any. Ten days after coming home she got really ill with Malaria. Neither of those people took anti Malaria pills. One lady went to Indonesia and she was tacking anti Malaria pills. However she got sick and that stopped the pills working. She got Malaria. Do you live in a country where Malaria is a risk? Have you ever visited a country where Malaria is a possible danger? How can people prevent Malaria?

Gosh I don't know. I suppose some of the tropical places I've been too might have been a possibility. Nobody ever recommended anti malaria pills though, so I guess the chances weren't too high.

Hi my friend Dawnald. Some places in the tropics have Malaria like Kenya but the Seychelles don't have it. So therefore it is possible you have been to the safe places where Malaria isn't a risk. Some countries are high risk and others can be low risk or no risk at all.

Hi maximax, I live in India, and I have been to Zambia, another country where they have frequent cases of Malaria. These microbes tend to mutate just like virus that causes flu. So the best way is to apply mosquito repellants. Dengue and Chicken Guniya can be equally bad, and again mosquitos are the culprits. Problem is DDT was once believed to remove these mosquitos, and we used to have annual sprays. Now, it doesnt work anymore.

I hope that you enjoyed your time in Zambia. Yes, the Malaria they have there can be very dangerous. I know a friend in Australia got Dengue Fever and it made her feel really ill. It is a shame that DDT doesn't work anymore. I used it when I visited Kenya. I had arm and leg bands soaked in it. I slept under a net. Thanks for your superb response my friend Vandana.

maximax8, First of all we need to check if the country we are visiting is a malaria risk region. Then, we will need to check if this country you are visiting though is not a malaria risked one, is having an outbreak. This outbreak may be due to certain natural disasters or abnormal weather reasons. If you are visiting countries that are malaria risks, then we will need to visit our doctors for the oral medication against malaria. There are special dosage instructions for this medication i.e. prior and after, so we need to pay special attention and adhere to the book. Next, we will need to be aware of our daily activities, so extra precautions like mosquito repellents sprays, lotion, mosquito netting, wearing long sleeved shirts, cover as much of your body as possible and most of all know about the signs and symptoms of this infection so that treatment can be effective with early discovery.
