Santa Claus or Satan's Claws? Is Santa a metaphor?

He wears a red suit, he is in charge of elves (fairy minions). He judges whether your good or bad. If you're bad he gives you a piece of coal as if warning or promise that you will be going to hell coal=source of flames. Or is Coal representative of the black mark of death or bad omen?
How many other metaphors can you connect to the jolly old fat guy, lets not forget his name is an anagram for Satan. Is the jolly old fat guy really that nice of a guy? Other than he still steals all the credit from parents who get no respect out of the hard work they put into Christmas...LOL.

Thank you for the reply. I feel that way about every cat, I am not a cat person, allergic to them for one.
