I think the Celebration of the Christmas is also commercialised like other celebrations. Christmas is became a big event for business. Christmas and the Celebration have some message to the society. But I dont think in todays world people are conscious about this.Whereever you go there will be big ads for the products to sell on Christmas occassion.Everybody is doing the business including the churches. Do you think the Christmas is Commercialised ? What is your opinion about this transition ?

Hi mdvarguese: I feel the same you do. Christmas became a commercial celebration, people just think about the gifts, to go shopping, buy, buy, buy. It's all about money but and that's what we need to know we have to show the world, as Christian what's the real meaning of this celebration with our good actions. I know it's not easy but we can do it. At least into our private social circle. Thanks for starting this discussion. Hope you are having a nice day. Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays. Take care. -Alvaro.

Hi...Alvaro Thanks for sharing your views on my topic. When I started the discussion, I mentioned that we lost the spirit of X'MAS. In the past week again very keenly I observed about the celebrations and the responses I received for the discussions show that every year it becoming worse and worse. Thanks and wish you a happy new year in advance

Christmas has become more and more commercialized, but I think that it depends on the family on how commercial it is. It could be because I can't always spend Christmas with my immediate family spending it with relatives or friends due to living in different parts of the world I don't get as enthusiastic as I might about Christmas. The thing is because there are Christmas decorations up since late October in some place, with the help of the music and the stores filled with a million and one things that catch the eye it is obvious people buy even though they may use more or less they will all want to get something for their loved ones to show that they care, even if it is something small.

Hi...leeloo Thank you for sharing your views in this topic. I agree with you that many of us cannot enjoy this great occassion with our near and dear ones because of the compellsion of the circumstances. And it is obvious that we will buy something to our dear ones to show them that we are caring them a lot. Wish you a happy new year in advance !!!

Yes Christmas is commercialized but I do believe that the true essence of it is not on material things at all but the birth of Jesus Christ. To bring the family together to celebrate. It is a good news at the same time to our economy because many people going to spend more this Christmas. Merry Christmas to all of us!

Hi..agv Thanks for sharing your opinion about the celebration of Christmas. What I am trying to say is that the true essence of the Christmas -birth of Jesus Christ- is sidelined and the world is changing more and more towards materialist. Wish you a happy new year in advance

I love Christmas but as I've gotten older I've realized it is a commercialized Holiday and is probably only going to get worse. It's all about gimmie gimmie and how many gifts someone gets or how expensive they are. Nobody celebrates the true meaning anymore, okay so maybe I shouldn't say nobody because I'm sure their are a few people that do. It's the birth of Jesus that we should be celebrate not how many gifts can I receive. It definitely gives business' a lot of business and it helps them bring in a lot of money but it would be nice to see people realize the true meaning of the Holiday once a while. The Holiday season is also suppose to be spending time with friends and family and being grateful for what we do have.

I think so,it is a worldwide holidays now, here in china, there are many commercialized activities tonight, the streets are very busy, crowed with people, almost all the shops have the promotions ,people purchasing frantically, you can not find the peaceful night anymore. As you said the spirit of the Christmas is not exist, in fact, the spirit of native Spring Festival is changed also...

Hi acer Thank you for sharing your observations on this topic. We are not against the commercial activity at the time of Christmas. But what we see today is the message of the Christmas is sidelined and the entire occassion is comercialised . Wish you a Happy New Year in Advance !!!!

yes it is commercialised but we only have our-selves to blame for that, how many of us buy xmas tree's and send x mas cards, or spend fortunes on gifts. All the shops are doing is serving the need, if people stop going mad at xmas then the shops would have no need to service the need and thus would become less commercialised. But its the same as any celebration people are there to make a quick buck and the general public fuel that. Even the churches are trying to get the money off you.

I agree that Christmas has been commercialized, not really changing my view of the holiday but rather Americas overall morality as I see that all people want to do is sell crap to people to capitalize in the end.
