You're not required to really have any qualifications as far as i'm aware. I planned on starting an advisory business way later next year. However. The more credentials you have the more likely you'll actually find people willing to listen to your advice. Credentials such as classes you took at school, people you've helped personally, awards you might have won in relation to helping people, etc. etc. As well as getting testimonials from the people you may have helped in the past. I think the #1 biggest qualification in most site's is you have to know how to market it and market yourself. If you're not after a profit it makes it easier, but if no-one can find your site it's kind of hard for people to well, find you. If they can't find you, you can't really help them now can you? If you're thinking of taking this seriously I can help you get your site going potentially, as well as to help you find some very helpful tools you can use to make your counseling site a success. If you're interested just send me a PM

(All figures below are in USD.) You could probably get away with paying $15 a year for hosting as you won't have thousands of clients so your site should feasibly never be bogged down or crash, or needs lots of bandwidth for that matter. However getting a layout for your site can range anywhere from $5-$10 to possibly pushing over $75+. However, there are lots of free website templates all over the internet that you can use, and then you could just pay someone about $5-$10 to install'em to your site. It doesn't have to be perfect. Now systems is the easiest part. I know of three sites you can use. One that let's you use a system that allows you to give advice to people through a chat-type of service, and the other works with Skype(I believe it was.), in a way so that you can give advice that way through voice, and possibly other means. There was a third one but I don't quite remember how it works off the top of my head. They all can link through from your advisory business site to that system and if you do decide to charge they can handle all the billing through their sites so it makes it really easy for you. You can also sell "lesson plans" at the one site. Such as let's say I wanted to sell a lesson plan about how to make some moolah online at $5 a pop. I would write out the lesson to help people and if people wanted to read it they would pay $5 through paypal or whatever payment method you choose. Just PM me and i'll hook you up with all this stuff to get you started. However, finding clients should be your job.

Off the top of my head I would say two important courses to take to start an online help site would be Psychology and Sociology....those help you understand people. But getting a degree and graduating college is always the best way to go for things like that...just to say you have a degree to study it...
