| help me fix my laptop please!!  | | | |  Dear mylotters, i have a compaq laptop model C40. I have installed windows vista business a couple of weeks back. It was running perfectly but suddenly after the welcome screen nothing is appearing. I have run my antivirus software by going to run command through task manager. After removing all the virus files there its the same problem. I dont want to reformat my laptop can any one help me in this please? Hope to have good response from the fellow mylotters. Thank you :)

| |  well actual using vista, you can reinstall your OS without formating your HD. If I'm not mistaken all your data will be stored in folder name 'old windows'..just make sur you have enough free space on your HD. (about 9-15G)

| | well, just insert bootable vista disk into your cd/dvd rom and restart the computer..then during start up press the key which assign to your boot menu (mine is f10 or esc) then choose to boot from cd/dvd rom..(just follow this link for further details)

when shown vista installation screen, just follow the instruction and select the partition you want to install the OS..a warning message may appear something like this "this drive contain an older version of windows, all files will be moved to folder old windows"...just continue with the installation, and you are done :) | | | |
