Neighbors barking dog  

This dog barks day and night the neighbor has to know the dog is barking. I just don't know how to talk to the neighbor about it without as you say, creating more problems. My hope is some other neighbor will do or say something or the barking will finally drive the neighbor crazy. No calls to the authorities so far. Thanks for responding.

What do you think of those devices that gives the dog a shock every time it barks?

Funny you should ask about the no bark collars. I used to work in a pet store and will say that they work well if they are installed correctly. They take some training on behalf of the owner to make sure that they are working correctly but will discourage the barking behavoir.

As for approaching the neighbor try something neighborly. Take a treat down for the dog and say something like. " I see/hear you have a new dog. What has had him/her so stirred up here lately?" You need to let them know that you do not have anything against the dog but that the barking is loud enough for you to hear it inside your home.
