Foot prints on the sands of time

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;
I picked the above stanza from the poem Psalms of Life by Henry Longfellow - a beautiful poem indeed. I am not going to talk about what we will leave behind when we are dead but something that connects us to each other no matter how rarely we meet.I have this cling wrap packet that my niece gifted to me - all of 3000 ft!!that will last me a life time. I use it every single day and I remember her every single day although we never meet as she has migrated to the US and only visited me in 1995!! We rarely send email. Is there anything that connects you with someone that reminds you of that person every single day though you never meet nor interact?
