I've been working for this company for 1 year and 5 months now. I did my job well, always came in time, never gave any problems to the company, but my boss still has not given me a raise. Recession is not a good excuse not to give a raise for your employees. That cheap bast*rd.

Hi there nocturn98!
What was in your contract? Was it specified how and when you will be given an increase in salary? If there's any, you can use that to raise a point. Do you have an employee's handbook? You can use that too.
Or, if you have a good relationship with your boss, meaning if there is an open communication in the organization, it must be very easy to ask him straight.

The problem with hike, and low income profile, was their even before the word recession was invented.
And the better word to describe it is "exploitation". You can never expect your boss to completely welcome your plea for hike.
Even if you are a boss of a company, you will also do the same, which I have personally experienced with my friends.
So instead of staying in the same company, and cribbing about low income, it is better you look for someother company during weekends, and quit this job once you get it.
And make sure, you go for a company that gives atleast a 20% hike. All the best.
