Of Course I would. And I have. I have read many texts and holy books including the texts that pretty much begot all of the middle Eastern religions and the Western European religions. The problem is that so many take their own holy book as the only true holy book. But I have found truth in all of them, the majority of "believers" want to take the text literally though, not understanding the symbolic and cryptic nature of the writings.

Absolutely and I have...but I would also read them as just books rather than something major mind you I read any Buddist and Pagan etc books the same way (I'm Buddhist/Pagan)...I take them as opinion and mildly rather than end all be all if that makes sense.

For me that would be pretty easy my bible is pretty worn and has notes scribbled everywhere. The book isn't what is holy and reading it doesn't make you holy. Putting it into practice is what matters. But I have read the Quran and Vedas also and I find a lot of wisdom in them also but chose the path of Christianity.

Yes. I have read Calculus with Analytic Geometry by Albert G. Fadell as the I would have read Srimad Bhagavatam. There is a practice of doing what we call as a Bhagavata Saptaha or to translate Doing a complete Reading of the whole of Shrimad Bhagavatam in 7 days. In the case of SB it was reverence for the Sories of the Lord. In case of CwAG by AGF, it was the wonderful treatment of the subject by the author. When I am reading a book, that has impressed me reverence automatically comes. This happened for my all timefavorite book: Mister God This is Anna. This is a book I would like to translate into Sanskrit as Annopanishad!!!

Hm, I had read Gita and Vedas(Not comletely), Bible and Quran(not completely). In my opinion, we read Holy books in a spiritual mind and ofcourse with devotion. I believe almost every believers in every faith should have read their scriptures in this mood. We respect these books because we had belief in god and mostly afraid of the wrath of god. But if we read a book of Sherlock Holmes or Mahatma Gandhi or Mein Kampf of Adolf hitler, we will never give those people as much respect as we give to god. When i was reading the story of Napolean Bonappartte, i felt respect to him as a warrior but i was reading the book lying in my bed, and after sometime sitting lazily in my terrace and while eating. But if i read Gita, i will make sure i've bathed and clean, mind is pure, and sitting in a pure place with devotion. I believe this is a common human psychology among believers of all faith, that they realize the difference between Human heroes and Supreme hero God who is above all creations including humans. -Jithin

I haven't read any of these books yet aside from The Bible. But if given the chance, I would read them respectfully as I would like someone else to read The Bible with respect.
