Is Rock dead in the 21st century?

Is Rock really dead and is POP/R&B the new "kings" of the Music scene? Please convince me that ROCK isn't dead because this is my favorite music genre. I have a feeling that it's slowly losing steam. Are the rock bands of today "lame" compared to the rock bands of past years? Will we ever have another band as big as The Beatles or The Rolling Stones? I refuse to believe that Rock is dead, but I'm not convinced. :(

No, No, No, Rock N Roll will never die. Its alive and well, and maybe your not a big fan of some of the popular rock out there right now, but they are also selling well enough to compete in the markent against the latest, greatest pop sensations. For example Nickelback was the number 1 selling band of 2007, and there last album has also sold millions. You also had LinkinPark, and Greenday selling millions with there last albums, and there are others. The Rock or Metal sound goes in cycles and usually hits its stride in the middle to late years of a decade. So it may be a big year for pop, and hip hop, etc, but alot of rock bands are in the studio right now recording new material. So don't worry Rock N Roll will never die.

Thanks for assuring me. Yes, I know Rock will never die. I'm just worried that Pop and R&B are slowly gaining its status. Long live Rockstars!
