Arm Rests in Movie Theaters

It's no problem if you like to sit on the left end or right end seat of the movie theater, you can be sure that one of the arm rest is yours alone. But what about on the other seats? Which arm rest is yours? I don't like brushing arms with a stranger and I can't claim it just for myself. Is there a rule about this? Sometimes if my drink is on the beverage holder, I'd like to think that that arm rest is mine alone.
