| |  they started making a halo movie a couple years ago. It was overseen by Peter Jackson. Unfortunatly the movie got cancelled. You can see the rough trailer for it online. They actually built a warthog and everything (You can go to the weta workshop website and see it, plus a brute shot.)
When it got canned the production crew and everyone used their resources to make "District 9" (If you watch the special features in district 9 they talk about that). Checking out the wikipedia for it now.. The guy who wrote the screenplay for Pirates of the Caribbean did a script for it. But its been discontinued. So it seems as though you were given old information. Sorry man. No movie on the way.
