Do you think even if you don't know the language you can understand people?  

ya friend, we can understand many things just by seeing no need to know in what language they do the show.i watch movies in other language even though i don't know that language friend.i can understand from their action and by seeing like this i learn few words in that language too

Expressions and music never needed any language to interpret the soul in them.

i agree with you, though language is an important tool for communication yet i still beleive that we can still communicate verbally. we also communication through actions and expressions.

Yes, I think so. I have also come across situations like that, and I figure out from their gestures and facial expressions what they are trying to say. I was in a foreign country then, where not so many people can speak English which would've been a common second language to us. But still, we communicate more effectively by speaking.

hello Beachlover! Sometimes, I also feel that I understand a particular language! Here in the Philippines there's so many dialects and sometimes when I heard other dialects, I understand it with out knowing what is it!. I guess the reason why this thing happen is because of my senses! Then because of their facial reaction it also give meaning to my eyes!

Yes, commnication can be both verbal and non-verbal. We can understand and communicate what we want when it comes to basic and simple things just by using gestures and other forms of non-verbal communication but it can never replace the function of language in terms of communicating deeper thoughts and ideas. Ideas need to be clothed with words in order to be communicated and reciprocated meaningfully.

language act as tool to communicate between people. no language mean no communicate. i agree that without language we cant understand people. that is why we need to brush up our language especially English as it is a international language. others also very useful as Chinese and others.

Sometimes the spoken langyage isn't the only way to communicate with someone. Body languahe can be just as effective. You don't have to speak to understand.

Yes I surely accept the fact that to understand people it is not necessary to know the language, and it is really great of you mom who does so much for you. This shows no barrier can stop love and affection shown by mankind towards each other.

I believe that even if you are unable to speak the language you will be able to somewhat understand each other. i believe facial expressions are the key to any language. I work in a setting where my language is English, but a lot of Spanish only speakers use the facility. I do not know much Spanish, but am able to communicate with them through facial expressions and pointing out what I may be trying to say. I do not think that speaking is the only way to communicate with others.
