The Linguistics of Farting

Farting about is the only other use of the word I know, apart from calling someone a stupid fart... knows nothing and long winded lol.
A fart is a funny thing, it gives the belly ease, it ruffles up the blankets and suffocates the fleas

I will exercise my brain cells and try to remember where I hid the matches so I can light a candle to get rid of all the farting smells!

Here in Sweden.. we also have INFARTS and UTFARTS, .. meaning that you must fart THERE when you either enter the area or leave the area, thus sparing the people crowding into stores at such places AND on the open roads, thus not bothering traffic needlessly!

We have 'automatic fart kontrol', where you press a button and the fart returns from whence it came! Very handy if someone happens by 'just then' and they will KNOW it was you, otherwise!

We have 'polis fart kontroll' and you can end up paying 2000 kronor if you do not control your fart!
Why, one can even put the number of the 'fartkontrol polis' in one's mobile in case you meet up with a real farter out there and just HAVE to complain.

We are also very respectful of road workers and pedestrians and heavily housed areas as we have set up many 'fart hinders' than demand you MUST SLOW DOWN and THINK before you fart, to spare all the unnecessary suffering!


NOW..the dutch word ‘vark’ pronounced FARK, also comes to mind, haha..,, not because it is an activity..per se, but it means pig,, and THAT then can be quite relevant to this discussion,

Even ‘scheepvaart’(still dutch, with 'vaart' still being fart (with a cute accent haha) but nothing to do with sheep but much to do with navigational farting appropriately and skillfully in correct directions... The Dutch MUST have this,as Holland is a delightful country with many people and beautiful flowers and we cannot just go around threatening any of them!
Why, you can even take a tour on the 'vaarts' in Amsterdam and ..AND.. even in Holland, you can get yourself in big doo-doo if your 'vaart' is too fast while driving!

But, aren't brain cells and farting muscles one and the same? I mean, at least sometimes? I'm sure we've all had brain farts from time to time. I know I have.

Then there's the old farts...

Okay - this farting obsession has got to go. I have given up talking about shearing goats, well almost.

But since you asked my friend Terri says that "a fart is not really a fart it is a fluff, unless there is strong odor and then it is a fart"

And now I will post this and it will again ask me if farting is one of my hobbies or something. Goodness!

As far as I remember, and yes I did once look this up being the juvenille saddo that I am, that fart only has two meanings in the English lingo being the obvious use for expelling gas, cutting the cheese, letting rip etc etc and also to describe a fool as in an old fart being an old fool or farting about being fooling about. Shame really as it's such a great word it should be applicable for many uses and definitions.

only thing i can think of that hasn't been mentioned is car fart.
it's when your car either backfires or just stinks in general for no good reason.

The only thing that comes to mind is a phrase that my father-in-law used to use. "Farts and rubbish"--which essentially meant the same thing as "stuff and nonsense",only a slightly more colorful version. He used to be the only one I ever heard use it, but it is now a family staple.
