Today we celebrated Matin Luther King,jr. We celebrate his birhtday and what he did for civil rights before he was marder in 1968. We celebrate his legacy. It turns out some people don't understand this day! Two women I know thought we celebrated King's death on this day! Excuse me! Are you serios? They were! Luckily me and a friend explained Martin Luther King,jr. Day! They were understanding it but also making fun of it! Geez! They acted like two dumb blondes and neither one is! My advice to people like this is don't open your mouth until know what you are talking about! Some people are so lame!

I am not from the United States yet the title of this post that not many people in the US know anymore who Reverend King was, gives me shivers. A country that forgets it´s true heroes id walking to its doom. It is a shame that a whole country can forget about it. I have seen many posts here about TV shows, realities and other light stuff. But everybody seems to have forgotten how, just 50 years ago, great singers, saxo players and movie stars could not swim in a Municipal swimming pool or ride in the front of a public bus just because of their race. Children could not study in the University, no matter how bright they were.
Dr King helped change that. And with no excesive blood shed. Your actual President is a proof of all that Dr King made possible.
But I suppose there´s a long road to walk yet. I´m not a blonde, but I would feel awfully p*ssed off if someone made the word blonde an equivalent of being dumb. It is another racism. I hope someday, we (the human race) will discover that we are all brothers and sisters no mater what race or skin color, that wars are stupid, that power is not as important as love.
In my country we don´t celebrate Martin Luther King Jr´s day, we don´t have afro chileans (there are other races here, be it by immigration or native) but we know who he was.

I know alot of people know about Martin Luther King Jr is but then I know alot of who don't! It depends on how aware people are of the past, the now and the future! Some people are clueless about everything! Some people just don't care! I was born in the early 1960's and grew up in a rural area. I don't really knowing a much Reverend King. I was, I think 6, when he was killed. I grew up with a father who is a racist. Thank goodness I'm not! My whole family is anti-gay I am sad to say!I am not, thank goodness! We have so many issues we still need to work on! Alot of it discrimination of woman, in the gay community, with blacks in some places and so many other things! I am not the proudest American right now! If we would be more like other countries I would love it! Unforuntely the USA is a country of extremely stubborn and old fashion people!
It is a shame! We need to open our minds wide open! Until we do we will stay in the dark ages!

Today is martin luther king day and I only vaguely remember what the day is about. In order to tell my children what it is about I would have to look it up online. Thats pretty bad. I am horrible with history I really learned nothing in school. All I know is that my daught is home from school today and I am happy.

I advise you to brush up on your history! Not just on Martin Luther King Jr but on other famous people! It is a shame to waste a mind and I see to much of that! I work at a college and I am appauled how lacking in history college students are! it is a crying shame!
