John Lennon Died In 1980. What Would He Think Of The World Now?

I was so upset when John Lennon died because I listened to an interview that Andy Peebles gave (in New York) on Radio One a couple of days earlier...and I just couldn't believe that he got shot like that. Anyway, this discussion isn't about the shooting itself but what I want to know is; what would he think about the world if he suddenly "came back?" I reckon he'd probably become some Eco Warrior as I'm sure that the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest would upset him. A lot of things would upset him as he was (so obviously) a very deep thinker and an interesting guy to talk to...by what I heard on the radio at the time, anyway. Could he influence any changes? Would he do it through his music...send a message that way perhaps? All these questions swimming around my brain about the legend that is John Lennon. Even though Paul McCartney is a talented man, for some reason, he doesn't have the same effect on me. He does a lot of good but still irritates me and I feel really bad about this! I just loved John Lennon and George Harrison but they're both dead...doesn't seem fair somehow!

Hi Jane, Hi will definitely make a good lyrics and a hit music for now. i admire his passion for music and his choices of themes for his music. my favorites among his songs are the following: imagine, so this is christmas...war is over, and in my life. i know the focus of his music for now will be about love for the environment, world peace, relationships and unity.

I couldn't put it better myself, thank you! I much prefer his solo stuff to the Beatles era...but there again I was born in 1966 so couldn't appreciate them. I think John Lennon and George Harrison (who is totally under-rated in my view) were the better singers in the Beatles anyway. I think John Lennon would've approved of Live Aid do you?He wouldn't have stopped there though, I'm sure. He'd make sure all the hunger, suffering, war, Global Warming...everything was still raw in our hearts PERMANENTLY! An Ambassador For The World lol, that's what he would be. Sadly missed.

Hello Janey, We sure think alike when it comes to the Beatles. I loved John and, sorry to say but I dont like Paul....something about him ....mmm!! (wont go into that but it has to do with his coming to Canada with his ex wife to crusade and perpetuate a lie). Anyways, I really dont know what John would really do. Im thinking he would be singing against anything he dislikes to try to make a difference. I remember when he came to Montreal for the bed-in. Would he still be with Yoko.....probably not. It was said that Yoko had astrologers do her charts and she knew something was going to happen to John. Since I loved John so much....of course I hated Yoko lol. Yes I do believe he'd be singing to save the rain forest, to save our planet, but he might also be singing against a few things.....knowing his style, that might get him into deep doodoo!!!

Haha! Yes, she was a bad influence on him but...to be fair he wasn't very good with women. He'd already been married once before and that turned out to be a disaster. I also believe that the love-in was orchestrated by Yoko, had nothing to do with Mr Lennon, which doesn't surprise me in the least! Still wish he was around though. I'd like him to come back looking like he did in the "Imagine" video, the coolest, most beautiful video I've ever seen. Fab!

If he suddenly "came back" I think he would probably clear off as quickly as possible because it's such a hugely different world to the one he knew and I doubt he would like what he would see. Switching it around a bit and looking at it from what would he be doing now if he had never been killed I think he would have become so cheesed off with the way the world is going and the inability of politicians to do anything truly constructive that he would have cleared off to some hard to reach area of either Thailand or the Amazon living the simple life and shunning fame & publicity completely. I honestly can't see him having had the patience in this day and age to be a campaigner like Geldoff or Sting. But it would be interesting to have seen what he made of the modern music industry, lol.

Haha! Those "plastic bands" you mean? No, I don't think he'd like them somehow. You may be right, I do think he'd become cheesed off with politicians but then again, maybe he would've started up his own "Peace Party" or something. I often wonder what my Grandad would've thought about all this technology...the cricket coverage, as an example is a totally different experience and he liked cricket and he'd probably like the way it's all "close-up" now. Not too sure about 20/20 though...bit manic for him! Even I prefer Test Matches so I must take after him, I'm pleased to say!
