| | I have never even heard of it. What is it? Is it like a Mango? Bannana? Orange? | | | | | | |

| | i see. it's not like mango, banana or orange. it is called "the king of fruit" in southeast asia. it grows from trees and it's husk oval or round in shape. it's green or brown in colour. its texture is similar to a jackfruit but with formidable thorn-covered husk. it has light yellow flesh. others have darker color depending on the species. some people regard its smell fragrant, others say its smell is offensive. its flesh is so soft and fairly sweet. | | | |

| | It's cool to know that there are people who like durian very much. I am not against the taste of it because it's not bad. What i don't like is it's smell. Too strong a smell that the fruit feels like it was cursed. For some, the smell doesn't have anything to do with the taste. Just because the smell is pungent, doesn't mean the taste is horrible. I agree..Sorry for durian lovers but it's not really on top of my list. | | | | | | |

| | I have tasted durian many times and it is indeed yummy. I first didn't like it because of its smell. I used to vomit before every time I smelled it. But one day, I just found myself eating this fruit for no reason. I was even surprised when i tried it and the taste was really great because it came from the freezer. It was like a durian-flavored ice cream. And after that first experience of eating fresh frozen durian, I have come to like it and I eat it every time i want to eat it. | | | | | | |

| | Here in my country Durian is abundant. Though I never tasted the fresh fruit but I have eaten so many Durian candies.:-) Yup, the taste is good and mind you, I'm even beginning to like its smell.:-) Durian will never be Durain without that distinctive pungent smell. I take it as not really pungent. The smell is just too strong for the nose that we tend to dislike it. However, the taste is awesome.:-) | | | | | | |

| | When I first taste durian, I didn't like the taste , maybe because of its smell. My uncle and aunt always have a durian every meal which i didn't like to eat. But then when I taste again the fruit, the taste is different and it is so good. After that i like durian's taste until now. it is very nutritious too.. . | | | | | | |

| | Hi cheiyen, i've heard about this fruit, but never got to taste it. I heard that the smell is overwhelming for firt timers, is it true? What does it taste like, sweet or sour? Do we eat just like that or have to cook it for sometime? | | | | | | |
Cheiyen (236)
|
| | hi, zkapfo123! it's true that durian's smell will kinda discourage you to try its flesh. but believe me, it's like an irony because durian is deliciously sweet. it's not like other fruit that you need to wait to ripen enough. once durian is sold, it's ready to eat. i haven't heard of any food where durian is cooked. maybe durian shortened bread... but i have eaten durian candies, durian ice cream and durian chips. good luck and enjoy mylotting! | | | |

| | you should give it a try. if dried fish stink, this one doesn't need to dry to stink but you won't regret the taste. your friends will exile you outside, or they might want to get away from durian's strong smell. LOL thanks for your reply. | | | |
