Cricket Australia is going to try the pink colored balls for a three day cricket match next week. It is to test whether the pink ball can be used for the proposed 'Day and Night' Test matches.
The experiment at the second-tier Futures League match between South Australia and Western Australia starting on Tuesday is the next step in CA's move towards developing a ball suitable for day-night Test matches.
The trial will be used primarily to test the visibility of the ball for both players and spectators under both daylight and the Adelaide Oval's floodlights at night, and to monitor the ball's discoloration.
