Maybe You have a friend who knows something about laptops, maybe he could help you, or just ask for fixing at the shop where you bought it... I think it must have a guarantee at least 1 year...

I suggest you use ultimate boot cd it'll probably boot your laptop. If you want more answers describe a little more.

Sounds to me like you may be out of luck. It looks like the laptop doesn't appear to be receiving enough power. With the battery out its difficult to test for this. I should know, about a year and a half ago I had to replace the battery from my old laptop because it finally gave. Then eventually the power cord stopped sending enough charge. You can tell if enough power is going to your power cord by the brightness of the light on the power cord. How I knew my power cord was fried, the indicator light on the power cord no longer lit up when connected to the wall.

Depending on the age, chances are you'll end up having to replace the unit. Now you said you can't afford one right now, but have you thought about leasing options? If your credit is good, you can get a Dell perferd card, and pay off the balance monthly. However, if you don't have good credit, or any credit, you can go to Arrons, or a place like that and lease the computer from them.

I'm currently doing that now with the laptop I'm using at this very moment. I couldn't afford to pay it out right so I'm leasing-to-own. Meaning at the end of eighteen months, I'll own the laptop, no questions asked.

Maybe there is someone you know that can get it fixed for you. dell computers are relatively strong so may be you can get it fix. on the other hand you can try and save money in order to get the necessary parts for it. if not well just try as hard as possible to buy a new one because in today`s society the use of computers are taking over the world and without a computer or any other advance technology you can get left behind. Do you think this is true?

I use to have the exact same computer - I actual still have it but got pissed off and got a new one. ine just stopped working and couldt figure it out. I took it to my uncles who use to fix computers. In the end I would have had to replace so many parts it wasnt worth the money. I cant remember the actual terminology of it but more or less the main thing that works the computer went. My Dad ended up taking an old part from his computer and put it in it and it worked. My Mom uses it now but its really really slow and has no memory space so you have to keep going back and clearing it.

Actully my Dell's battery is broken is aslo broken, maybe you can just use plug and take the battery off.

How long have you been experiencing this problem? I just want to ask, when it was working fine you didn't install any kind of software did you? Sometimes there can be incompatibility issues that prevent a laptop from booting. Otherwise it sounds like a power supply problem. If you laptop is really old then it's likely that your ac power supply has run its course! You can carry out an online search for a replacement if you google the details of your power supply unit.
