My children come home from school each season with different sports to play. I have 2 children and it gets so expensive to pay for them to play ,not to mention the gas to practice and games. I had a new baby last year and didnt let them do as much. This year money has been very tight for us and I feel so bad for them to not get to do the things they want to try. I dont think it should cost so much to join elementary school sports teams..esp if you have multiple children.

kymomof3, I know what you are saying. My kids, now grown, wanted to try out just about everything that had to do with sports or music. Instruments are just as expensive, believe me. My daughter wanted to play in the school orchestra and there was no way we could buy an instrument for her. We ended up renting it for her. It was a tight squeeze, but by renting it we knew that if she changed her mind, and she did, we would get the deposit back on it. Now my son was a football fan. The only thing the school provided was the jersey. The parents of the older teams had equipment that they would offer to sell at the school flea market or a straight out offer in the school newsletter. In my State, Maryland, we have a shop that sells used sports equipment where they take the items on consignment. I hope that this may give you some ideas.

kymomof3, Glad I could help. I know that if after the equipment that you may have bought outright from the same shop will take it back on consignment for you. Good Luck!

yes, i agree and we have never had the initial outlay that it takes so our daughters have never been involved in sports outside of the school. however, the sports that our daughters school have had are generally free so that is alright.
