Smilies add emtions to our written words. They can portray our feelings and let others know our state of mind and whether we are serious or not in what we say.
I use them in every single post that I make. I would be lost without them 
That's why they are limited I guess. I can manage to place three in every post and I would have no difficulty in adding more if they were allowed 
Then there would be more smilies than typed words on the pages which would not be a good thing - though would make the pages even more colourful!

I don't think that there are special advantages in using a graphic smiley rather than an emoticon. But they sure are fun to add. It looks better like this

Maybe it is for users not to abuse the use of smileys just to make their posts longer. I think it's better that way.

It gives life to the post. It animates it. Actually I enjoy reading posts with smileys and would try to do it to my posts too..

Smileys makes lot of difference between normal message and message containing smileys. They give the correct expression. I felt happy by seeing smileys. It is a wonderful option during chatting. Smileys are awesome.
I don't know any limitations about smileys. Can you tell me limitations?

you too can have the access to put smileys after reaching 200 posts.
the limitation is that we can only use 3 smileys in a post or comment

When I put smileys in my post that would only mean that the smiley I used was the same expression my face actually looks when I made that certain post
I used it sometimes to make the heavily serious discussions lighter to some extent but some misunderstands them though

Each one has a specialmeaning, just like how we would see you when you were writing your post, depending upon what you were thinking or whether you had got too near to the fire

I think.. there is not much advantages to put smiles symbols.. but it's made your response or discussions attractive.. and many people like to put smiley and i also like this.. thanking you.. keep mylotting..

Using smileys helps me to express myslef much better than I could by typing them. I use them all the time, as I am having lots of fun doing so, and as far as I am concerned, the responses aren't so plain looking whwn we use htem. I like to see smileys as it shows me what others are feeling at the time, and they can what I am feeling at the time as well. I am glad that we can use smileys as So just post them to your hear's content, but be aware, that you can only use 3 of them in each response you post. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.
