My Acrobat reader has turned illiterate!  

The best thing I suggest is reinstall adobe reader and remove the current version. The changes you made may have caused the program to become crupt. I hate acerabat and I hate pdf files for that matter. So its not exactly something I'm particurally fond off. Of course you may have to consider reversing the changes if uninstalling and redownloading the program doesn't work.

marguicha, can you provide more details? What kind of computer, PC or Mac? What OS? Windows? If so, what version? What version of Adobe Acrobat? And most importantly, what changes did you do to the computer?

It sounds like the current version of Adobe you have installed is not compatible, but it is hard to assess the problem or possible solution without pertinent info.

remove the current version. don't delete but uninstall. go to adobe.com or http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO .Click adobe reader. read through the details and choose the right one for your OS if you have a different OS. You can opt to include Free McAffee scan, I already have an anti virus so i did not include it. Just uncheck it if you don't want it. The click download and a pop up window will open. If you want to have a copy of the installer choose "click here" after click download

Whatever you do don't smash your computer!. The best thing to do is uninstall your Adobe Acrobat Reader and install a new or updated version, I think another user has already mentioned this. If you are using xp then you need to go to control panel and then access the Add?Remove programs icon. This will open up a list of all your installed programs. Locate the program and then on the right hand side click on uninstall. If you are using vista then the Add/Remove programs will be referred to as Programs and Features, access this and do the same thing. One you have uninstalled the program go to the main Adobe website and download and install the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Good luck. Andrew

All you have to is to uninstall your old one and install new version of acrobat, or you can use foxit reader it's better than acrobat reader.

download Foxit pdf reader it is much better than Acrobat.

I suggest taking an axe and smashing your PC up good and neat. If that doesn't help, add pour some acid over it, if its still alive, get some dynamite and blow it. If its still working, try reinstalling Acrobat. Remove the old one, control panel-> Add/remove programs. IF you are in a real hurry, try using Google docs. http://docs.google.com/ That's a good temporary fix

I missed this discussion of yours yesterday. So, i am curious to know what you did. let me guess...you axed your PC hehehehehe! i think the best way is to just delete the old one and download a new version. Cheers and Happy hearts day friend!
